We have migrated Lizard(https://www.lizardcentre.com/) website on our own Godaddy Hosting server(https://www.godaddy.com/) with the following steps:-
1. Before proceeding with any changes or modifications, To ensure this, the first step is to create a comprehensive backup of all essential files, including the root files and important directories such as “wp-content,” “wp-includes,” and “wp-admin. Then”First of all create backup of all root files and important files with the help of file manager of original(https://www.lizardcentre.com/) website in our local storage.
2.As part of the setup process, we have successfully established a new sub-domain on our own server. The sub-domain, “lizarddev.mohaliproperty.org,” has been created to complement our main domain, “mohaliproperty.org.” By setting up this sub-domain, we have created a separate and distinct section within our server specifically dedicated to the development and testing of our website. This sub-domain provides a controlled environment where we can make changes, implement new features, and experiment with different aspects of our website without affecting the main domain. It allows us to isolate development activities and ensures a smooth and uninterrupted experience for our website visitors on the main domain. By having a dedicated sub-domain, we can efficiently manage and enhance our online presence while maintaining the integrity and stability of our primary domain.
3.Install WordPress: Next step We have install WordPress in our subdomain (lizarddev.mohaliproperty.org).
Choose the WordPress version: During the installation process, you will have the option to select the WordPress version. It is crucial to choose the same version as the one running on the original lizard website, in this case, version 6.2.2 (wp_version 6.2.2). This ensures compatibility between the two instances and minimizes potential issues.
4.Select and upload files: Select the root directories and files you backed up earlier and upload them to the sub-domain directory. You can typically do this by highlighting the files or directories, right-clicking, and choosing the “Upload” or “Transfer” option. Alternatively, you can drag and drop the files from your local storage to the server’s file manager.
5.Exporting the database from phpmyadmin :- Export the current((https://www.lizardcentre.com/) site database in phpMyAdmin, a widely used tool for managing MySQL databases, Once logged in, select the desired database from the sidebar on the left. Within the chosen database, click on the “Export” tab located in the top navigation menu. This will take you to the export settings page. Here, you can choose the specific tables you want to export or select the “Select All” option to export the entire database. Additionally, you can choose the export method, such as quick or custom, and select the desired output format, such as SQL or CSV. After setting the preferences, click the “Go” or “Export” button to initiate the export process. The database will then be exported as a file that you can save locally or backup to a remote location for future use.
Saving the exported database locally: Once the export process is complete, you should save the exported file(s) securely on your local system or another backup storage medium. This ensures that the database is safely preserved and can be easily accessed when required.
6.Create a new database on hosting panel: Within the database management section, find the option to create a new database. Provide a name for the new database, such as “Wp_lizard,” and click on the “Create” or “Add” button to create the database.
7.Import the Database backup file: Look for the option to import a database file or run SQL queries. Select the backup file of the original database and initiate the import process.
Wait for the import to complete: The import process may take some time, especially if the original database backup is large. Be patient and allow the tool to complete the import operation.
Verify the import: Once the import process is finished, verify that the data from the original database has been successfully imported into the “Wp_lizard” database. You can use the database management tool or run queries to check if the tables, records, and relationships are intact.
8.Create user for database :-Now we have to need create a user for database access.
7.Connect the database to the migrated site: To connect the “Wp_lizard” WordPress site to the newly created database, locate the “wp-config.php” file within the sub-domain’s WordPress installation directory. Open the file and look for the database configuration section.
Save and upload changes: Save the changes made to the “wp-config.php” file and upload it back to the sub-domain’s WordPress installation directory. This ensures that the site is now connected to the correct database.
9.Change website links:-After that all URL’s automatically going to live site but it’s necessary to change all links through the wp-options table in the Database.
After making changes to the links through the wp-options table, it is important to update all the links within the content of your WordPress site.
